Free Application for Federal Student Aid [FAFSA]

  • Quick facts about the FAFSA:

    • Any student who wants an opportunity for financial aid must complete the FAFSA
    • Fill out the FAFSA online 
    • The FAFSA form becomes available October 1st of a student's senior year [to be prepared for the following year in school]
      • Families will use tax data from the prior year to complete the form
      • Families must complete the FAFSA every year a student is in college
      • Families can send the FAFSA form to as many schools as they desire
    • Each organization sets in own deadline for when the FAFSA form must be completed, be sure to vist your school[s] website to identify your due date
    • Some forms of financial aid are first come, first served so it is beneficial to fill out the FAFSA early
    • Typically a financial aid office will begin review of the FAFSA once a student has been accepted to a university, so it can be beneficial to apply early as well
