Standardized Testing

  • BFHS adminsters standardized tests as required by the Wisconsin Student Assessment System. Standardized tests include:

    • ACT
    • ACT WorkKeys
    • ACT Aspire
    • Civics Exam
    • Wisconsin Forward Exam
    • Access

    ACT

    • Statewide assessment required of all juniors
    • Used for the same purposes as any other ACT, namely college or technical college admission and scholarship acquisition
    • Sign-up is automatic and managed by the State and BFHS
    • Given on February 20th, 2019
    • Schedule TBD
    • If a student desires to take addtional ACT exams he or she must sign up on his or her own with ACT

    WorkKeys

    • Statewide assessment required of all juniors
    • Career readiness assessment
    • Students can earn a National Career Readiness Certificate
    • Sign-up is automatic and managed by the Sate and BFHS
    • Given on February 21st, 2019
    • Schedule TBD

    How the ACT WorkKeys Assessments Can Work for You

    The Occupational Profiles (allows examinees to compare their skills to the skill levels of careers of interest to them)

    Aspire

    • Early high school [9th & 10th grade] summative test
    • Predicts student performance on the ACT
    • Adminstered completely online [except in rare special circumstances]
    • Sign-up is automatic and managed by the State and BFHS
    • Test window 4/8/19-5/10/19
    • Schedule for the day TBD

    Civics Exam

    • All students must pass the Civics exam with 65 or better 
    • Required for graduation
    • Completed through American Citizenship class or Advanced Placement American Government

    Wisconsin Forward Exam

    • Statewide assesment required of all sophomores
    • Designed to gauge how well students are doing in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards
    • Only tests Social Studies
    • Adminstered completely online [except in rare special circumstances]
    • Given during the course of a normal school day throughout the spring

    ACCESS

    • Statewide assessment required for all English Learners
    • Designed to assess English proficiency and progress
    • Given during the course of a normal school in late fall and winter
    • Adminstered completely online [except in rare special circumstances]
