Big Foot High School senior Christian Karabas was just informed that he is a recipient of the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Student Scholarship.

The selection committee for the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Student Scholarship has announced the recipients of the 188 Herb Kohl Foundation awards for students. Awards in the amount of $10,000 scholarships will be given to the 188 graduating high school students from across the state.

Student Excellence Scholarship recipients have demonstrated excellence in the academic arena and high motivation to achieve, have displayed a broad range of activity and leadership outside the academic setting, and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond.

The Kohl Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship program was established by Herb Kohl, philanthropist and businessman, in 1990. To date the foundation has awarded $17.8 million to Wisconsin educators, principals, students, and schools. “Education is the key to the future of Wisconsin and our nation. I am very proud of the accomplishments of these students, teachers, and principals and look forward to the great contributions they will make in the future,” Kohl said.

Since 2010, Karabas is the ninth Big Foot High School graduate to have earned this prestigious award.  Big Foot High School's last recipient was Brooke Wellhausen from the Class of 2017.
