Meet Brittany Pfaff, the pit director for Little Shop of Horrors!

Meet Elise Williams, the director/choreographer for Big Foot's performance of Little Shop of Horrors!
What are the major themes or messages you want to convey in this musical?
"At its core, Little Shop of Horrors is about ambition and the cost of getting what you think you want. We're exploring how far someone is willing to go for success, love, or recognition-and what happens when those desires start to control you instead of the other way around."
What are your biggest challenges in mounting this production?
"This show is deceptively complex. Vocally, it demands a lot with its tight harmonies, stylistic consistency rooted in 60s-inspired music, and strong character storytelling through song. On the technical side, bringing Audrey II to life is a huge undertaking. It requires coordination between puppeteers, actors, and sound to make the plant feel believable and, honestly, a little terrifying.
Balancing all of that while keeping the show fun, fast-paced, and true to its dark humor has definitely been a challenge-but a really rewarding one."
How do you define success for this show? "If the audience is laughing, a little shocked, and fully invested in these characters, then we've done our job. I also measure success by the growth of the students. Seeing them take risks, support each other, and truly commit to their roles (onstage and off) is what makes a production meaningful."
What are some things you would like to say to the cast/pit/crew (shoutouts, etc.)?
"I could not be more proud of this group. The cast has embraced these characters with so much energy and honesty, the pit has worked incredibly hard to capture the style and drive the show forward, and the crew has taken on some seriously ambitious technical challenges. This show only works because of how collaborative it is, and this team has really shown up for each other. It's been amazing to watch."

On April 8 after school, the United We Stand club got together and with the help of Mr. Slawson they learned to cook some Chinese dishes. This club is a cultural club where they learn about other cultures, understand and acceptance of them.
