Recently Big Foot NHS partnered up with Big Foot Student Council at our annual Thanksgiving food drive !! Big thank you to all the members from both organizations for helping out ! All donations will be going to Big Foot's Food Pantry (Immanuel United Church), Chiefs Closet (Big Foot High School), and Sharon Middle School.

Big Foot high school alumnus Evan Langelund was chosen by the Naval Academy to speak to local high schools to assist with recruitment and admissions.Evan came to visit and talk about the Naval Academy experience and try to encourage others to consider the Academy. He included the social studies department at Big Foot. Evan is a history major in his Junior year at the U.S. Naval Academy located in Annapolis, Maryland.

Our students are busy, busy, busy! We are thrilled to share that three of our choral students have been selected to participate in UW–Milwaukee’s Vocal Arts Festival! Congratulations to Edelle Benedict, Braiden Bimrose, and Alaina Norman!
Each year, students from more than 50 high schools across Wisconsin and Illinois apply for this opportunity, and only 120 singers are chosen from over 200 applicants. We are incredibly proud of our students for earning their place among such outstanding young musicians.
During their two-day experience, they will:
• Rehearse and perform with the Vocal Arts Festival Honor Choir, culminating in a final performance at UWM’s Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts.
• Work on a prepared solo in a masterclass or mini-lesson with UWM voice faculty and guest artists.
• Attend classes and interest sessions focused on vocal performance.
• Enjoy performances of opera and musical theater scenes, choral music, and vocal solos presented by UWM faculty and students.
This inspiring event will take place February 6–7th.

Ms. Long’s Literature class is currently reading “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time” by Mark Haddon, a book that takes place in England and centers around a teenager as he attempts to solve the murder of a neighborhood pet. To aid in our novel study, we’ve begun delving into other classic examples of murder mysteries and the crime fiction genre. Today, students watched an episode of Sherlock, taking note of clues, possible red herrings, and any plot or character similarities they noticed between the show and our novel. While they watched, students were given the opportunity to enjoy a classic tea (“cuppa”) or coffee, along with some Scottish shortbreads.
