It was another week of some spectacular play from Badger, Big Foot, and Williams Bay student-athletes in their respective sports.
With that said, I have selected two athletes and one team for this week.
Big Foot Girls Basketball team of the week.
Is selecting a team of the week cheating? Sure. But I have previously selected a couple deserving athletes of the week from the Big Foot girls basketball team, and this is a way to work around that. But more importantly, they deserve it.
I don’t think anyone would disagree that Big Foot had hoped for more wins by this point in the season, however their 62-53 comeback victory over Whitewater on Tuesday, Jan. 14 will be one to remember.
Big Foot was down by as much as eight in the second half after heading into halftime up 24-21. Big Foot junior Mya Gonzalez (previous athlete of the week), who had 17 points and 10 rebounds (Double-Double) in the game, noted that she and the rest of the team “really wanted this win,” and they certainly showed that in the second half.
Sophomore Leah Paulsen (previous athlete of the week) had 19 points in the second half, including four 3-pointers and 23 points total, Ava Schoonover had 10 rebounds and senior Natalie Klamm finished with six points, seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks. Kate Hummel finished with five points, including a late 2-pointer to pull away and Allie Stankevitz (junior) tallied six points, both of which came on two deep 3-pointers early in the contest.

Big Foot students will be participating in this. It takes place on January. 26th 2025 at Lake Lawn Resort.
Join us for WCEDA's first annual Walworth County Culinary Showdown, featuring teams of Walworth County high school culinary students and professional chefs!
Taste the creativity as teams present their take on a typical hot dog, deconstructed and brought to us in a whole new way.
Each team will also bring a gourmet dish of their choice of encased meat, which could include lamb, beef, chorizo, Italian sausage, pork, etc.

Big Foot High School is excited to partner with First National Bank and Trust to honor two exceptional seniors for the month of January. Northina Goeddeke and Timothy McIntyre were nominated by our faculty for embodying the core values of CHIEFS PRIDE.
Timothy received acknowledgment for his forward-thinking approach, while Northina was praised for her ability to solve problems creatively. Along with being honored as Students of the Month, Timothy and Northina were awarded a $25 gift card from First National and will be invited to the year-end celebration, where they will meet the monthly awardees from other nearby school districts.

For the month of December Noah Langelund has been selected as Big Foot FBLA's member of the month. Despite being a key member of his swim team year round. Noah Langelund is a dedicated member to Big Foot's FBLA chapter throughout all four years of his membership.

Congratulations to Aidan Clary on being Big Foot FBLA's member of the month for the month of January!
Aidan was selected due to his active participation in the chapter and for taking the initiative to complete the first level of his FBLA Business Achievement Awards.
Additionally, Aidan was a state qualifier during the 2023-2024 school year.

It's exam time and NHS is doing Cocoa & Cram again this year during exam week! This is an opportunity for all students to prepare for their exams, while enjoying some hot chocolate and cookies. It will be in the lower library on Monday from 2:50 - 4:00 and on Tuesday & Wednesday from 1:15 - 2:45 (during the make-up exam time). NHS students will be there studying and also available to help answer questions and provide guidance as needed.
We encourage students to attend, especially those who may need some extra help.

Current students are invited from 4:00-5:00 PM, and incoming freshmen are invited from 5:00-6:00 PM.
